Repository project

The Repository Project is at its very first stage (July 2005).

Guatemala is a magical country, with a great cultural heritage and breathtaking landscapes.

It is also a developing country, struggling to come out of its 36-year civil war. One of the countries with the largest social differences in Latin America and highest illiteracy percentages.

Overall, a beautiful country that needs a lot to be done.
International cooperation, NGO's and volunteer work are bringing these necessary changes to remote areas forgotten by the governments. However, most of these projects are very specific and limited in time. A lot of good will is put into it, some results are obtained, and then the team goes back home, taking with them all the experience they gained over here.

Afterwards, someone else comes around and carries out the same thing, just a few villages away, without benefitting from any feedback. And for those Guatemalans who wish to take on some of that work, they don't even know where to start from.

We strongly believe there is a lot to be gained by everybody if there is a place in Guatemala that keeps track of all these projects. A place where people can browse through past projects, teams can organize a press conference or just discuss with participants of other organizations.

Here is what we offer :

• An exhaustive library of previous works, organized by area and topic.
• A web-site with a comprehensive archive of previous presentations and available material.
• A space dedicated to exhibits, press conferences and projections.
• An environmnent to discuss about projects and ideas.

But we cannot carry this on our own, we need all available information. If you know people that have information on development or cooperation projects in Guatemala, please have them contact us to send us a copy of their project...
