First things first, you come to Xamanek to have a good night's sleep and a nice hot shower to get started for your amazing adventures.

However, our ambition is to be THE reference for backpackers in the Maya world. So don't be surprised to walk in and find there's a great slide projection in the evening about the archeological site "El Mirador", or someone showing pictures of his travels in the area over the past 6 months.

During the day, you can browse through some fine books on both modern and Mayan Guatemalan art, travel magazines or just grab a book in our book exchange section.

But it's not all just about culture and and you can also forget a bit about Central America in general and relax while watching a movie and having a drink!

Gregory Lassalle, French, discovered Guatemala in the late 1990s, and became very interested in the Guatemalan Civil War (1960 - 1996).
